Education Alliance to Benefit Employees of Armstrong World Industries

ADELPHI, Md. (March 30, 2022)—91ֱ�� of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and Armstrong World Industries (AWI), a multinational manufacturer of ceiling and wall systems, are teaming up to increase access to higher education for the company’s 2,800 employees.

“We are pleased to be part of the investment that Armstrong World Industries is putting into its workforce,” said Blakely Pomietto, UMGC’s senior vice president and chief academic officer. “Having our programs available to the company’s network of facilities across the Americas has the potential to increase the skillsets of employees in a wide range of job functions, furthering AWI’s competitiveness and value of its human resources.”

The new alliance will enable Armstrong employees to take courses from any of the university’s 135+ degree and certificate programs at discounted rates. UMGC’s offerings are fully online and in workforce relevant programs such as cybersecurity, data analytics, information technology, and business that are in high demand in today’s increasingly technical workplace. UMGC also saves students money by using digital resources, which have replaced costly publisher textbooks in most courses.
