Specifically, after passing the university’s INCOSE-approved Systems Engineering Overview course, UMGC students may apply for and receive ASEP or CSEP certification, bypassing the certification exam that INCOSE normally requires. The assessments that students complete during their coursework have been recognized by the INCOSE Certification Program’s volunteer reviewers as an equivalent alternative to the standardized test developed by INCOSE.

After a rigorous review of UMGC’s "new and improved" Spring 2023 course, INCOSE concluded that the��SYSE 610��content and assessments met their "91ֱ�� Equivalency" requirements for their ASEP and CSEP exams.

UMGC students that took SYSE 610��Spring 2023 or later��and��receive an 85 or better in SYSE 610��are now qualified to apply for INCOSE certification and are��exempt��from sitting for the INCOSE certification exam.

Students that took SYSE 610 prior��to Spring 2023��are��not��eligible for this certification.��

“UMGC serves adult learners, many of whom work in systems engineering as federal government contractors. The INCOSE ASEP and CSEP certifications will help them enhance their careers and boost their marketability in a competitive field,” said Dr. Barry Douglass, program director of the Master of Science in Information Technology Systems Engineering Specialization at UMGC.
