The Council of Colleges and Military Educators (CCME) has presented 91直播 of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) with its 2025 Institution Award in recognition of the university鈥檚 significant contributions to military education.
For the past half century, CCME has championed the delivery of quality education to servicemembers and their families. The council focuses on college education opportunities that grow out of partnerships involving the military services and colleges and universities.
CCME presented the award to the university at its annual conference, held at National Harbor in Maryland in late February.
鈥淲e are humbled and honored to be recognized with CCME鈥檚 2025 Institution of the Year award,鈥 said UMGC鈥檚 Vice President of Stateside Military Operations, Keith Hauk, who accepted the award on behalf of the university. 听鈥淏oth institutions鈥擟CME and UMGC鈥攕hare a decades-long partnership and commitment to promote, encourage, and deliver quality education to servicemembers and their families across all branches of the armed services, as well as military veterans,鈥 said Hauk, 鈥渁nd we look forward to continuing that vital work, in the years to come, of empowering dreams and changes lives for military-affiliated students.鈥

The Institution Award recognizes UMGC鈥檚 long history of educating military personnel around the world. That commitment began in 1949 when UMGC became the first university to send faculty to teach military personnel on bases in post-World War II Europe. CCME noted that during the 76 years that followed, the university has constantly innovated and improved the way it delivers its academic programs and support services to servicemembers.
Today, UMGC鈥檚 enrollment includes more than 60,000 military-affiliated students and their families, among them 15,179 veterans, 7,168 spouses and dependents and 23,000 overseas military learners.
The award comes on the heels of the Military Times鈥 announcement in December that UMGC was the No. 1 university in its 鈥淏est for Vets鈥 ranking for online education.
UMGC helps military-related students fast-track their degrees by providing credit for military experience and training and offering reduced tuitions rates. The university also connects its students with a military advising team to help them complete their studies. UMGC reaches students anywhere in the world through virtual learning and hybrid courses that combine online and in-person classes at more than 175 global locations.
