91ֱ, Md (March 4, 2025)--91ֱ of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company (NASDAQ: AMZN), are collaborating to promote AWS Cloud Institute, a training program that prepares learners with little to no technical background for entry-level cloud computing roles.

The program, fully developed and delivered by AWS, is designed for anyone interested in becoming a cloud developer. By completing nine instructor-led courses in as quickly as nine months, learners can apply newly acquired skills and knowledge to real-world tasks using scenarios based on AWS customer use cases.

The fully virtual program includes more than 150 labs, nine capstones, and preparation for two industry-recognized certification exams – the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and the AWS Certified Developer – Associate.

Learners also receive training on how to leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI / ML) technology to boost productivity and improve code quality through real-world projects like building an AI application.

Program graduates also receive 33 academic credits to be applied toward a UMGC bachelor’s degree.

“We are excited to combine our experience with Amazon Web Services’ curriculum and trained instructors to help students stay at the forefront of technology’s rapid advancement,” said UMGC President Gregory Fowler. “This new collaboration builds on UMGC’s excellence in IT and cloud computing education, as well as our established success working with companies and organizations to find solutions to upskill their employees efficiently and cost effectively.”

Learners can pick their pace, taking one to three courses every quarter. Learners can also change their pace every quarter, to account for variability in their personal and professional schedules. Slack groups among learners and office hours sessions with instructors foster an interactive experience, where learners build a network of fellow future cloud industry colleagues.

Learners build a digital job skills portfolio to share with prospective employers and receive professional skills development and career services support throughout the program.

“We are pleased to join forces with UMGC to address the digital skills shortage and create a pipeline of early-career talent that can help our customers solve their business problems with cloud technology,” said Kevin Kelly, director of AWS Cloud Institute. "UMGC's extensive network of students, alumni, and engaged employers makes it a natural fit for this important collaboration. Together, we aim to expand access to exciting career opportunities in the rapidly growing field of cloud computing."

AWS Cloud Institute offers four start dates per year, with the next cohort beginning on April 7, 2025. To learn more about the collaboration between UMGC and AWS Cloud Institute, click here: /it-computer-science/aws-cloud-institute .
