Fifty-five students in the IT Academy at Fairmont Heights H.S. in Prince George’s County, Maryland, visited UMUC on Friday, January 31. The students presented some of the work they are doing at the IT Academy but also enjoyed a day full of sessions and hands-on activities organized by UMUC faculty concerning various aspects of cyber security.

Moderator Marvin Kalb and guest Thomas L. Friedman, the three—time Pulitzer Prize—winning columnist and author, will discuss the evolving intersection of national security and freedom of the press.

A team of undergraduate students at the 91Ö±²¥ of Maryland 91Ö±²¥ College (UMUC) finished atop the standings for their category in the 2013 DC3 Digital Forensics Challenge, an international competition that attracted some of the brightest minds in the cybersecurity business.

For decades they had spanned the globe, hopping from country to country to provide quality higher education to American servicemembers seeking a college degree in combat zones and Cold War outposts.

Works by artists from Maryland, Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. are being featured as part of the Second Biennial Maryland Regional Juried Art Exhibition (BMRE), the opening exhibition for the newly renovated 91Ö±²¥ of Maryland 91Ö±²¥ College art galleries.
